Lapidarium
“Lapidarium” is a contemporary monumental sculpture exhibition taking place in the suggestive archeological area of Rome, conceived by the Mexican Artist Gustavo Aceves. The itinerary starting from the “Arco di Costantino” passing by “piazza del Colosseo”to end up at Mercati di Traiano.
“Lapidarium” is composed by 40 sculptures – height from 3 to 8 meters in some cases long up to 12 meters. It is a project in progress, with size and ambition out of the ordinary. During his tour around the world this project will grow step by step to include around 100 different works.
With “Lapidarium” Aceves is trying to give a dynamic and strong answer to one of the most pressing and contentious issues of our times: the migratory emergency. The artist achieves this aim by giving shape to the idea that this crisis is deeply rooted in the ancient history, representing every sculpture in Lapidarium a moment of a particular diaspora of ancient history.
